I bet most would have missed this screen when you started racing. I did that's why I lost all races for days. This is the first set of instruction which you need to read so as to do well in the race. It's the basic.
Trick 1: When preparing to start the race. I keep my eyes on the pet that waves the start off. Look at that pet's eyebrow when the screen is about to flash "GO" the eyebrow will straighten horizontally and pause. That's when I click on my pet to start.
Trick 2: When you are crossing the hurdles with water, click on the pet one more time to get them out of the water faster. Please do so only when you do not have consecutive hurdles in front of you. In other words be selective when you use this trick.
Trick 3: Pet Society instruction on the speed pad is to step in the middle of the pad then click on the pet. This works most of the time, however if you are neck to neck with another pet and you are at the last speed pad, (Just before the finishing line) CLICK on the pet the minute it steps on the pad. You would find that you'll have a higher chances of crossing the finishing line faster.

ReplyDeleteone more trick: click on the bananas to get rid of them... as in, do not jump over them like the other pets do... it only slows you down and loose your momentum... besides, you may get lucky and gain coins too... XD

ReplyDeleteI would just like to share something. When approaching a hurdle immediately after landing on water, you'll just have to jump a split-second earlier than usual. I've had a lot of people tell me that it was difficult to cross multiple consecutive hurdles with water in between, but once you got the technique down it's pretty easy.
ReplyDeletesometimes when there's a hurdle with water and then a boost, i first jump the hurdle then i jump again for the water trick and at the same time you land in the speed pad you'll be in the green zone, so click when you land on the pad.

ReplyDeletemmh, maybe it works differently on different platforms? I don't see the eybrows straighten before the go, the sign just appears. And it's not possible to jump while in the water.
ReplyDeleteAnother tip fot the other pet's bananas, you can wait and see if they trip of their bananas and as soon as they prepare to jump click on their banana and you might get a coin.
ReplyDeleteSometimes you need to double click your pet to get it to jump out of the water. I jump even if there are bananas on the other side. There is plenty of time to clear the bananas before you land. I also find that Firefox gives better race performance than Internet Explorer. Haven't tried racing in other browsers.

ReplyDeletekeep your mouse over your pet as much as possible. Your pet WILL slow down with your mouse somewhere else. And will often speed up and even pass other pets when your mouse is on it. Something I haven't successfully tested: I've heard petting/rubbing the pet will speed it up even more. My review is this is more of a good luck charm than actual reaction, but i haven't scientifically tested it.
regarding jumping multiple water hurdles I try to wait to the last moment to jump so there's less water on the other side basically the moment my pets head looks to touch the base of the hurdle, maybe a moment later.. the foot should touch down on the far side of a dark blue dot (as opposed to before or on) this will save you one to two steps in water. to make sure i jump out of water especially followed by a boost pad I just keep clicking till my pet jumps so i don't miss the moment this especially helps when i'm lagged. I find different times of day also help to decrease the lag (lower traffic i suppose)
@anon 24 Dec, the eyebrows "straighten" seemed to be invalid now, as I had observe, I think it's either the code had been changed or the server gets real hardware speed boost, making the lag invisible. I use Firefox to play. not sure of other platform, but i guess I would not rule anything out.

ReplyDeleteHiii well in my experience i've also found out another tip....actually 2. the first one is when starting the race (before thE GO sign) and ur pet is bouncing back and forward... just right before it could do it for the 6th time the sign appears.. so u can count til it does it 5 times wait a second and u get it at the moment.... that was worked a lot for me most of the time. The second thing is (probably u already know but let me tell u just in case hehe) that when u pick the other 2 pets for the race, pick the ones that look like down (sad, or whatever u wanna call it) cuz they walk/run slower than a healthy one. Hope it helps :)

I have tried the ways u suggested but doesn't make a difference! If u don't let ur pet trip and fall down during racing, I'm sure u can win at least 8 out of 10 races each time.
ReplyDeleteBut everyday when I go race, 1 or 2 times almost nearly to the end of the race, a pet can suddenly overtake mine! If pet society doesn't control the number of winnings, I'm sure everyone can win all 10 races...
Is it just me or are the pets you race faster by nature? When we're on a stretch they always catch up to me. It seems the only reason I win is because they trip and I don't.
ReplyDeleteI never knew about the eyebrow raise, but what I did notice is that when the pet raises the checkered flag count each time the flag waves to the left (your left) if your application is working at a normal speed, the "GO" will happen on the 10th wave. So as soon as you say 10 you should be clicking your pet.

ReplyDeleteI find the hurdle game quite easy anyways. You don't have to be that precise on the go, or jump out of the water. The main thing you have to be careful are the hurdles. What I usually do is, I look at the shadow of my pet and the hurdle's base. I toggle my quality to low, so the race can go faster. The point where I click my pet to jump is when the shadow and left tip of the base have a 5mm gap. If your pet is running a bit slow, you can lower the gap to 2mm or something.

ReplyDeletehi to all, I've been playing the normal race for sometime now and i can add another tip on winning the race. as one is about to race your are given your 2 oppponents, start race and take note if one or both of them are fast or slow and which of your opponents are bad racers meaning they hit hurdles and banana peels too often. when start your next race choose the slow and bad racers and keep racing them until your number of races is used up. if you race good (avoiding hurdles and banana peels) and manage to get the worst racers, you'll find that you'll be winning the race most or all the time. in fact i manage to win all 10 races neeting me a total of 300 coins.

ReplyDeleteI find it to be pretty easy to play the races. I don't need to pay attention to eyebrows or water pads. I think you just need the right timing when jumping the hurdles, like jumping a split second before the foot of the hurdle and when clicking hold click until pet has gone over the hurdle, clicking the bananas as soon as you see them (or as soon as possible) clicking as soon as you hit the speed pads and don't race with the Mayor cos he is usually pretty fast, and generally if you trip even once he will beat you.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing, someone told me they had better luck racing when they fed their pet until it was full before racing (more energy maybe??) but didn't seem to make a difference to my races when i tried that.
And usually I can win 9-10 races everyday if I'm paying proper attention, and get the timing right on the hurdles.
